Quilts

PMQ – Through the Garden Gate

Back in July 2017, I discovered Cotton Cuts’ Puzzle Mystery Quilts. They last for 10 months, you choose small or large, and a colorway. Ever since then, I have been a dedicated detective. I like that you get a block a month, and that you don’t know what the final quilt will look like. Being able to work on one block at a time, I don’t get overwhelmed at the overall quilt and drag my feet to work on it. You know what I mean?

I have had the top put together for some time now. I have even had it sandwiched, but have been too intimidated to quilt it. It is a large quilt, approximately a queen size quilt, and trying to quilt it on my small machine never sounded too inviting… and then mom got Molly.

Once I got started, I think I did pretty good. I am still learning how to FMQ, and am trying to be more smooth, but I was very focused…

In 2 days, I worked on quilting this quilt for 8-9 hours, Whew! Mom was working on some of her projects in there and keeping me company.

Mom and me in her “Cave” just hanging out 🙂

Chloe got to hang out and work on her quilt, too!

I did finally finish quilting the whole quilt. I did not take my binding fabric with me because I wasn’t sure if I’d actually be brave enough to start quilting it. Mom is a very encouraging and positive person though 😉

I have not had the time to bind this quilt yet, but I wanted to share that I have finally made it this far. I’ll let you know when it is complete and will share more photos.

Do you have projects that have been waiting for you to get brave enough to finish? I’d love to hear about them. Leave a comment below and let me know I am not alone.
Becki 🙂
