I’ve been reading so many different tutorials for masks. I’ve also been hesitant on what kind of fabric to use and what if I don’t make them right and ruin my lovely fabric from my stash…
I ended up ordering a kit from Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics. Besides the fact that I love their fabric, I knew they would get me started in the right direction.
You can’t choose what colors they will send because they build the kits from what they have. I have to say I was happy I got blues, though 🙂
Their directions were super easy to follow. I put 1 mask together completely so that I “knew” what I was doing. Once I finished it, I began my own party of 1 assembly line.
For the ties, it was easier for me to iron a quarter inch the length of the tie after attaching. I attached and sewed them like I would bind a quilt. The ironing made it easier to fold and tuck the raw edge into the tie to finish them neatly.
Whew! All done!
I think they turned out pretty good. I like how you can see slight changes in some of the fabrics from where it was dyed 🙂
Now that I feel more comfortable with making masks, I’m going to try some different styles…
Stay safe!
Becki 🙂
