Just Because

Unexpected Visitor

I got to work Monday morning still rather groggy–you how it is Monday mornings–and all the lights were on in my office and workspace. This is not normal so I immediately became super-aware of my surroundings.

I got to my desk and found an otter just chilling out on my chair. I immediately began questioning her about the lights, why she was here, and anything else that popped in my head in this state of confusion, but she was not being cooperative at all!

She tried to jump off my chair to scurry off, but she wasn’t very fast and I caught her. As I held her up to get a better look at her, I discovered she has a Starbucks card in her belly button!

I wasn’t able to get much information out of her besides a few of my co-workers had put her in here and cut her loose in my office for the whole weekend. She finally settled down and I learned her name is Opal. She lives in the Haw River, but it has been so cold these past few weeks that she contacted a friend, who had a friend, and here she is.

She is now living in my office and hangs out with me at my desk. She is actually a very sweet and silly otter.

Becki 🙂
