Here’s another T-shirt quilt I finished recently. These are all softball team t-shirts from a recent high school graduate. They are all very neon, too! Although the photos are bright and clear, they don’t exactly show the eye blinding brightness of each shirt.
The shirts are from softball leagues around northwestern Ohio. It was fun to see familiar towns and “Buckeye” this and that. I am from Ohio and my family still lives there and seeing/working with the shirts was kindof like a piece of home in my sewing room 🙂
I had enough shirts for a nice sized throw quilt. There were a couple blocks leftover, and I made a pillow out of one.
I had the pillow form and figured it’d be easy to make the pillow cover. Little did I know the measurements I thought I had just right, weren’t. I had to do some googling, but I finally got it to fit nicely.
I used pieces of t-shirt scraps to border the main block and the back of one of the t-shirts for the actual back of the pillow. I figured that would be more comfortable to lay on, rather than the printed side.

Here is a pretty good photo of the whole front. The star fabric I used for the border actually has silver glitter on it. I had been looking for just the right sashing fabric, and when I saw this I knew it was the perfect choice!

I have to admit, when this bright neon quilt was finished, it crossed my mind to keep it for myself hehehe :p

I’ve seen this type before and love the idea! I keep thinking I’d like to do something along those lines with my daughter’s dance costumes, but talk about a challenge with all those different types of materials! That and she’d probably murder me if I started cutting them up.

Yes, those types of fabrics can be tricky. Maybe one day she will ask you too without fear of murder 😉. These types of quilts are a way way to keep clothing and use forever. My mom made all us kids quilt from out baby clothes, her maternity clothes, and other related things. I really enjoy listening to her tell about the different blocks 🥰
