Good the the Last Scrap!

So my mom won a scrap pack from Silly Mama Quilts a few months back, but wasn’t sure what to do with them. She shared them with me and I played with them until a great idea hit me!

The scraps were Mendocino by Heather Ross for Windham Fabrics.

I trimmed all the pieces to the same width and then laid them out in a row so that all the different colors were mixed up all pretty 🙂  I had some help from George as I was finishing up one square. Apparently, he wanted to test the napping comfort of the fabric…

I had enough pieces to make 2 block approximately 14″ square.

I decided to turn the 2 lovely squares into Loveys for our Etsy shop! I backed with a sherpa minky and added some ribbons and WALA! Two lovely loveys!

There was one larger chunk of the of a really fun aqua print fabric that came with the scraps, too. I added a tone on tone white to the back, and absorbent cotton in the center.

These were so much fun to make! After they were finished, I threw them through the wash and loved them even more how they came out! They are so soft and cuddly!

The cool thing is that I used up just about every scrap from that win! This is all I had left:

Can you believe it?! I had hardly any waste, which is great! I hate wasting scraps and will usually keep them and try to do something with them. But this time the only piece that was big enough to do something with, I made a mini tumbler and threw the tiny pieces away!

So by not having to save any additional scraps, I have room for more fabric!!! 😀

Thanks mom for sharing your win! And thanks to Silly Mama Quilts for sharing her scraps! 🙂

  2. Do you ever have customers send you fabric and have you make something from it? I have my dad’s old robe and I would love to have it turned into a teddy bear (or any stuffed animal) or a pillow for my new grandson. Many thanks! I bought one of your bibs for him and everyone loves it. Also, thank you for the surprise gift of thank you cards! Just perfect!
