Scraps From Die Cutting

I had a baggie full of scraps from die cutting fabric on my Sizzix machine. I dumped them out and started ironing them–not sure what I was going to do with them.

Once ironed, I started trimming and cutting and making stacks of triangles, blocks, and strips. I started by sewing the triangles together to make small square blocks.

Then figuring out the how to put them together. I kept going back and forth between two different layouts. Each layout had some leftovers, so I had to also think about how to use those, too.

Once I finally decided how I was going to use all the little blocks, I started sewing! I used my Janome since it has gotten a bit crowded, but still has enough space left for smaller projects 😉

And here are the final project pieces…

I think the table runner and coasters turned out really neat!

I washed and dried the finished pieces and then took photographs…

What do you think? Pretty cool, huh!

And I still have the strips to figure something out with. I’m really glad I decided to hang on to these scraps 😁
